Snapshot: Getting Through the Pandemic, Together

Healthcare is a high-touch, high-stress business — physically and emotionally. Not only must we care for our consumers, but we must also care for ourselves and each other. Our ability to deliver quality and reliable care depends on all our people feeling supported and at their best.

Early on, when our leaders recognized the scale and scope of what we were facing, they readied nearly $1 billion to sustain operations and provide the resources required to support our caregivers. They were visible and present, always asking employees, "What needs do you have that we can help fill?"

Our supply chain team went to great lengths to maintain inventories of personal protective equipment, respirators and other critical items we needed to save lives. To prevent the spread of the virus, our Safety, Infection Prevention and Environmental Services teams were relentless about disinfecting every inch of our facilities and putting additional precautions in place.

While primary care physicians and medical office staff managed COVID-19 symptoms, ICU doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and lab teams worked through multiple COVID-19 surges to care for critically ill patients. Our human resources teams and chaplains offered our caregivers spiritual, emotional and financial support.

In our communities, our Community Health Improvement teams worked tirelessly to impart culturally appropriate and accurate information about the virus and vaccines. They conducted widespread testing and brought lifesaving vaccinations directly to people in need.

While these last two years have taken a toll on us all, we could not be prouder of our people's servant hearts and the teamwork they exhibited in pursuit of our Mission.
